The header picture above shows a couple of guy’s playing basket ball. I took the picture myself while I was on vacation in Portugal in October 2009. I was very pleased with the result.
But looking at the picture of the basket being shot, it gave me time to think how our businesses can be like a game of basketball!
In business we do a lot of pre work before we can secure a sale. There are things like marketing and advertising as well as making sure the customer can find us and have a pleasant and simple experience of buying from us. Just like basketball, where the players try to work closely as a team to get the ball in the right position to be shoot into the basket!
How we ensure that we ‘score’ a basket everytime in our business can be a challenge! Customer focus I believe is key to achieving this goal.
Putting the customer first in how we think about our business, in all aspects form marketing to sales, will really help a business achieve success.
So take some time to put your customer first. Let me give you a quick example. Website design! So often a website is either designed for the tastes of the owner or the website designer and the actual customer who will use the website is left out of the equation. Customers want something different when they visit a website. They want it to look, work and feel like it has their interests in first place and also give them a completely awesome experience! I see too many websites that are built in a way that fail to deliver this approach. They have been built for the people who designed them and not the customers!
The customer is priority. When a website delivers this, customers will buy from that business.
So take a look at your website from your customers viewpoint and see if it delivers and scores a basket!
